Join us for the 2024 Annual Conference at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar, NY, on September 21, 2024.

This year’s theme is “Bluebirds and the Creatures Around Them.” The day features educational sessions, displays, a catered on-site lunch, and an opportunity to learn and share information about the Eastern Bluebird with other bird lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Location

Five Rivers Environmental Education Center is a living museum comprising over 450 acres of fields, forests, and wetlands. Located in the Capital District/Albany area, the center provides a variety of easily accessible programs and services for individuals, families, and organized groups. In recognition of outstanding interpretive programming, the National Park Service has designated Five Rivers a National Environmental Study Area. Early Morning Bird Walk – 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Scott Stoner, a lifelong birder and nature photographer, past president, and long-time program chair and field trip leader for the Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club (HMBC), will lead the walk.

Scott is also a volunteer at Five Rivers EEC. Since retiring from the NYSDEC in 2019, he birds the varied habitats of Five Rivers several times a week!

Speakers

Geneva Salerno – “Hope is the Thing with Wings”: Discover the enchanting world of Mellow, the barred owl, a living testament to the delicate harmony of our local ecosystems.

John Rogers – “Bluebirds and More”: Learn about the Eastern Bluebird with information pertaining to other cavity nesters, and a sprinkling of butterflies and wildflowers.

Joellen Lampman – “Don’t Get Ticked on the Bluebird Trail!” Ticks are inevitable on the trail. Find out more about them and what we can do to make sure our nestbox checks don’t suck.

Catered On-Site Lunch

Lunch, provided by McCarroll’s Village Butcher/Deli, will Include a selection of wraps (with vegetarian and gluten-free options), pasta salad, fruit salad, and coleslaw. Bottled water, chips, and cookies will also be included.
